Wildcat Dance Camp

​Dance is both athletic and artistic. At camp, we will explore dance as storytelling and performance, while focusing on stretching and strengthening techniques for fitness, agility, balance, and control.

Each day, campers will take a ballet technique class. Next, dancers will shift focus to jazz technique including chasses, leaps, pirouettes, and floorwork. Finally, the campers will combine those elements learned during technique into dances to be performed at the end of camp. Each camper will learn a dance taught by the director of the SI Dance Program, a dance taught by SI Dance Faculty and Graduate, and a piece created by the campers themselves with the assistance of SI Student Teacher Assistants. Dancers of all skill levels are welcome!

To Wildcat Dance Camp Registrants:

What to wear? Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move well. Any appropriate T-shirt or tank top and sweat pants, yoga pants, or leggings are allowed. You should feel comfortable and able to move without restriction. If you already own ballet or jazz shoes, you are welcome to bring them. If you do not own dance shoes, you may dance barefoot.

What to bring? Please bring a light snack and a bottle of water to camp every day.

Where to go on the first day of camp? Wiegand Theater

Performance for families and friendsCamp ends on Friday afternoon with a performance from 4:15 - 5 pm. for families and friends. Please be seated in Wiegand Theater by 4:00 pm.
