Lay Down the Law: Mock Trial Camp
All rise! Do you like the law? Winning arguments? Then this class is for you! In this 1-week camp, students will be introduced to the world of mock trial. Through a hands-on curriculum, students in rising 7th through 8th grades will improve their communication skills, confidence in public speaking, and critical thinking skills as they role-play witnesses and attorneys in both civil and criminal actions relating to contemporary topics. Class time will be devoted to understanding the basics of criminal and civil law through readings, discussions, and guest speakers. The camp will culminate in a mock trial activity. No previous experience is necessary–just a desire to fight for truth and advocate for justice!
